Rhapsody Concerts lets iOS users keep track of music tours, find shows nearby

Back when SongMatch for Android was introduced to the public, Rhapsody said that its Shazam-esque offering was only the first of many "companion" apps to come. Today, as part of its plans to expand the suite of Rhapsody applications, the streaming service is introducing Concerts. The moniker says it all, really: the new application is designed to be a hub where you can easily keep up with -- you guessed it -- concerts from music artists you're into or even ones you've never heard of. Using a device's location services, Concerts can quickly find gigs around your area and display useful info related to them, including things like an entire show lineup and the ability to buy tickets.

While Concerts isn't limited to Rhapsody subscribers, those who pay the monthly fee do get a couple extra tidbits, such as music playback and track downloads from within the app. Currently, it's only available for iOS, but Rhapsody did tell us thatAndroid and Windows Phone 8 versions are "coming in the next few weeks." Telus drops its attempt to acquire Mobilicity Mobile

Telus' bid to acquire Mobilicity was primarily a play for more spectrum, and the Canadian government's obligation to block the related frequency deal largely killed the merger's reason for being. However, the carrier isn't fighting that fatal setback to the bitter end, AT&T-style -- instead, it's backing out entirely. That's undoubtedly a relief for Canucks wanting a competitive cellular marketplace, although we wouldn't cheer too loudly. Mobilicity was partly hoping the deal would eliminate its financial woes, and it now has to fend for itself once again. There's also no guarantee that we'll avoid an eventual repeat: it could be open season on Mobilicity when there's no longer a moratorium on spectrum transfers.

NVIDIA Tegra 4i shows up in mysterious 'brand' phone, promises Q1 2014 debut Mobile

While we've yet to see NVIDIA's Tegra 4i show up in any commercially available hardware, the company is still keen to remind us it's on the way. This time, the 28nm Cortex-A9 chip is making an appearance inside what appears to be a new, revised reference design or white-label phone. Spotted over on AnandTech, the mysterious device sports "brand," er, branding (we're guessing to be replaced by operator markings), along with a 4.8-inch 720p display, a 13-megapixel shooter and LTE / HSPA+ that would cover multiple (yet unspecified) regions. This does appear to be a little more than just a demo unit though, with NVIDIA tellingAnandTech that the device will come to market sometime in Q1 2014, costing $300 - $400 sans contract in 8, 16 or 32GB varieties. Other Tegra 4i handsets are also said to be in the works, starting as low as $200 commitment-free.
